With experience in all styles of board design and an emphasis on custom made boards, Jye Byrnes designs surfboards for a vast range of ages and abilities. He approached Engineroom as he found his existing logos limiting. He couldn't apply them to every style of board, so he ended up with various, inconsistent logos which weakened his brand.
He wanted to create a logo that would be flexible enough to work on all styles of boards, whilst still being iconic and easily recognisable. We presented several initial concepts but the one we all kept coming back to was based on Jye's nickname 'The Fly'. The logo was an abstract representation of three boards standing together, a surfboard and two fins, or more iconically The fly.
